Scientists want proof that cats are evil

I can has evil?

Lots of people will tell you that pets are beneficial to your health and well-being.  There have been studies showing as much.  But there are also studies that show that a loving and nurturing pet might not be the universal case.  And anyone who’s tripped over their cat, who seems to know just how to get purposely under foot, will attest to their malicious potential.

One scientist – Harold Herzog, who has a book with an incredibly long title – is looking for something a bit more objective.  The studies, he argued, are rife with irregularities and inconsistencies.  Well, yeah, what’d you expect?  Accuracy?  From pet owners?  That’ll happen.  Ask a dog owner how he or she feels right after the pooch tears through a favorite pair of slippers and you’ll get one answer.  Ask the same owner after the pooch tears through the leg of a burglar and you’ll get another.

Heck, people can’t even agree on what constitutes a “pet”; you think they can agree on a standardized test to determine if they’re beneficial to your health?  Don’t hold your breath.  If you do and pass out, you really think the cat’s going for help?  Only if it benefits him.
